My story of settling in a barrier cream after emptying N tubes as a combination skin type in my 30s haha
Today, I’d like to recommend a holy grail barrier cream that I’ve already scraped clean out my fourth tube of. Haha. I have dehydrated oily skin, also known as "dehydrated oily skin," so if I apply even a slightly heavy cream, my T-zone explodes with oil and breakouts. Yet, deep down, it’s insanely dry, so my U-zone gets flaky white patches—I have a really tiring skin type. As I entered my 30s, I knew I needed to pay attention to anti-aging and barrier care, but every single ceramide barrier cream on the market had a texture that was so thick and heavy, like butter, that I just couldn't bring myself to reach for it.
Then, I finally settled on a gel-type barrier cream that I bought with some skepticism after getting a recommendation from a beauty community by chance. Haha. This product is formulated with squalane and ceramide, and because of its translucent gel texture, it spreads incredibly lightly and feels cool, just like a moisturizing cream. When applied to the face, it absorbs instantly like bursting water droplets, and surprisingly, once absorbed, it leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth, as if a very thin silk film has been applied to the surface.
It gives off a subtle, dewy glow that seems to emanate from deep within the skin, rather than a greasy shine, so my base makeup absolutely does not cake even when applied beforehand haha. At night, if I apply two layers of hydrating ampoule followed by a thick layer of this cream before bed, I can really feel my skin texture being smooth and firm when I wash my face the next morning. I think there is truly no better product for those with severe inner dryness or those who dislike heavy creams. I feel like I’m ready to stage a one-person protest if it gets discontinued ㅠㅠ Everyone has at least one product they’ve used countless times, right?
