Please recommend a good way to get rid of whiteheads!

Is there a good way to get rid of my whiteheads? I've been really stressed out lately because of them. They're not visible on the outside, but my skin feels rough and bumpy when I touch it, and makeup doesn't go on cleanly. I've tried exfoliating and soothing creams, but the effects don't last long. It's hard to pop whiteheads, and I'm afraid to touch them for fear of leaving marks. I'm wondering if I should go to a dermatologist to get rid of them, or if there are home remedies I can try. Could you recommend a good way to get rid of whiteheads?
