I am curious about the causes and management of increasing freckles.

I am a beginner who has been concerned about the increase in freckles around my eyes and cheeks lately.
It's not that I didn't have any freckles at all, but it wasn't to this extent. I'm writing this because I want to know what causes them because they seem to be getting worse.

Is it simply because of exposure to too much sunlight? Or could environmental or genetic factors be the cause of freckles?
I think I usually apply sunscreen regularly, but I keep getting freckles, so I'm worried that there might be a cause of freckles that I don't know about.

Lastly, I'm considering laser treatment to remove the ones that already exist, but I'm also wondering if the cause of the freckles will recur quickly after treatment if I don't address them.
