These days, I'm afraid to look in the mirror. Is there any good way to get rid of blackheads?

Lately, I've been sighing every time I wake up in the morning, wash my face, and look in the mirror. I used to get a lot of compliments on my skin, but time has taken its toll, and the pores around my nose are noticeably larger.
