The key to skin barrier care during seasonal changes is exfoliation.

Hello.

Many of you worry about itchy, flaky skin and breakouts when the daily temperature difference between late fall and early winter increases. I also have sensitive skin, so I used to get severe stress during the seasonal change. After consulting with a doctor, I learned that applying more products when your skin is already flaky can be even more dangerous.

When your skin becomes rough, you often think it's due to dead skin cells and use exfoliating products. Thinking it's due to dehydration, you apply a generous amount of highly nourishing cream. But if your skin barrier is compromised, these things can be toxic.

Rather, at this stage, the answer may be to change your cleanser to a slightly acidic one, significantly reduce the number of cosmetics you use, and focus solely on 'soothing'.

Be especially careful with using packs too often, as this can overhydrate your skin and make it more sensitive. These days, I only apply one thin layer of moisturizer after washing my face, but I find that my redness subsides more quickly than when I apply multiple layers.

If your skin feels hot right now or feels like it's flaking off no matter what you apply, try pausing from today and giving your skin time to heal on its own. Even just sticking to the basics will help your skin look and feel better. ^^
