Stop Drinking Cold Water - Lifestyle Habits That Affect Your Skin
When it comes to skin care, cosmetics and treatments often come to mind, but I've found that surprisingly, one seemingly small lifestyle habit can have a significant impact on your skin: avoiding cold water. I used to always reach for ice water after exercising or in hot weather, but at some point, it felt uncomfortable and my skin felt particularly sensitive. So, I decided to change my habits, starting with changing the water temperature.
When I frequently drank cold water, my stomach got colder, digestion slowed, and perhaps as a result, my complexion looked dull. Especially after drinking a glass of cold water in the morning, my face would often feel puffy all day. Conversely, after switching to lukewarm or room-temperature water, my body felt much more relaxed, and with my stomach feeling more stable, my skin also felt more calm.
My skin gradually changed. The first thing I noticed was a reduction in minor puffiness. I'd heard that cold water can suddenly stimulate the body and impede circulation, but I've found that consistently drinking room-temperature water has actually reduced my morning facial puffiness. Also, because my body is less cold, breakouts appear more slowly than before, and the redness seems to have diminished.
Now, no matter how thirsty I am, I choose lukewarm water over ice water. It felt awkward at first, but after just a few weeks, my body found its way to that temperature. By avoiding cold water, I've realized that even without changing my cosmetics, simply reducing one irritating lifestyle habit can make a big difference.
