Men's skin tends to produce more sebum and have larger pores due to the influence of testosterone. However, frequent shaving can cause damage to the skin barrier. I'll share my unique method for fundamentally improving skin condition.
1. Remember the 'calling' and 'grain direction' before shaving.
Shaving is a physical stimulus that removes the outermost layer of skin, the stratum corneum. After washing your face and allowing your beard to fully swell, use shaving foam and always shave in the direction of hair growth (the grain). After shaving, immediately soothe the damaged skin barrier with a low-alcohol aftershave or moisturizer. This alone can be a significant improvement.
2. Remove excess sebum and replenish moisture.
Men's skin often has oily skin but is dry on the inside. Even if you use an all-in-one product, apply it immediately after washing to prevent moisture evaporation. If you have a lot of shine, choosing an oil-free moisturizer to balance sebum and moisture is said to be a fundamental solution to the problem.
But the reality is that it's hard to keep even these two things in check.
