Oh, I finally finished my project presentation, which I'd been shivering under the auditorium lights! As I walked out into the hallway to the applause, a cold sweat running down my back felt incredibly refreshing and liberating. But then I came to my senses and went to the bathroom to look in the mirror. My face was as dry and puffy as a sheet of paper, perhaps from the heat of the lights or the nerves that had dried my mouth. I'd always prided myself on my foundation, but when I was extremely nervous, my skin was immediately telling me. In fact, I'd been drinking nothing but coffee for days, trying to prepare for the presentation. Now that I'm in my 40s, I've become acutely aware of how even the slightest disruption in my daily routine can cause a loss of elasticity and complexion. I grabbed the tumbler I'd packed in my bag and gulped down lukewarm water, and finally, I felt like I was finally reviving. I realized once again that properly replenishing moisture within the body is more important than applying anything to the skin. I usually find plain water quite difficult, so I add a slice of lemon to my water. This way, there's no fishy smell and it goes down much better, so I can finish the entire bottle in no time.
