I used to not know why my skin was so sensitive, but looking back, I realized that my lifestyle had a huge impact.
The biggest thing I noticed was sleep. If I slept late or had a bad night's sleep, my skin would inevitably get flaky and breakouts the next day. Conversely, if I got a good night's sleep for even a few days, my makeup would go on much better.
And I can't ignore my water intake. When I barely drank water and only drank coffee, my skin felt tight and flaky, but when I started consciously drinking water, my skin was definitely less dry.
My eating habits also had an effect. If I frequently ate late-night snacks or greasy foods, I'd get breakouts on my chin and cheeks the next day. And on days when I ate a lot of flour, my skin felt unnecessarily sensitive.
What I surprisingly noticed was my habit of touching my face with my hands. If I unconsciously touch or squeeze my face, the spot will last longer and leave a scar. Since I've been careful not to touch it, I've definitely seen fewer breakouts.
In the end, I've come to realize that, rather than expensive cosmetics, sleeping well, eating well, and maintaining basic lifestyle habits are the most important things for your skin.
