A barrier repair routine that I've put together while reflecting on and holding onto my sore skin.
It's well past 11 o'clock, and I can't sleep, staring intently at the mirror. I hate the winter tingling, so I decided to exfoliate a bit more vigorously today, but now my cheeks are incredibly stinging and red. Logically, I think I overexfoliated my already dry, weakened skin barrier, which was a mistake. Ultimately, I'm learning through my own skin that it's more important to strengthen the inner layer than to overexfoliate the outer layer. For now, I've applied several layers of light soothing ingredients to my irritated outer layer to cool it down. For fundamental recovery, I've been rebalancing my skin, from drinking water to hydrating my skin with nutrients. I've learned that quenching my thirst deep within my skin, which can't be addressed with cosmetics, creates a barrier that won't break down even in this cold wind. For the time being, I'm going to forgo scrubs altogether and focus solely on strengthening my inner skin barrier by maximizing the effectiveness of my skincare routine. I've come to the conclusion that the true essence of home care lies not in skin that glows on the outside, but in feeling healthy and rejuvenated from within. Don't be like me, overindulging in winter treatments and damaging your skin. Instead, focus on a routine that builds your skin from the inside out.
