How to overcome quirkiness for a clean impression

I used to neglect my skin care routine, but recently, when I started getting really nauseous from shaving, I started. It's nothing fancy, just three things I follow, and they're really effective. First, I soften my beard with a steam towel before shaving. Second, I always apply alcohol-free, soothing toner. And finally, I always apply sunscreen whenever I'm near a window, even if I'm not going outside. At first, I hated the stickiness, but I've noticed a noticeable difference in my complexion between days I use it and days I don't. Friends have been telling me their skin has improved lately, so I've been sticking with it, even though it's a hassle.
