Avoid late-night snacks and empty your stomach before bed
Eating late at night goes beyond simply contributing to weight gain; it can have a devastating impact on your skin the next morning. Our bodies have a "purification period" during sleep, regenerating damaged cells and eliminating waste. However, eating late at night forces all of your body's energy into digestion, leaving less energy for skin regeneration.
Spicy and salty foods, especially those favored as late-night snacks, increase sodium levels in the body, drawing water out of the body and causing facial swelling. Furthermore, falling asleep with undigested food in the stomach disrupts deep sleep, leaving skin dull and darkening under-eye circles.
If you want clear, elastic skin, you should finish eating at least 4 hours before going to bed to empty your stomach and create an environment where your skin can fully focus on resting and regenerating.
