March is the month when skin breaks out; I declare minimalism for my vanity.
Lately, it has been cold in the mornings and evenings, hot during the day, and quite windy, so perhaps that is why my skin doesn't know how to handle it and is completely irritated. Even when I apply skincare products that usually suit me, they feel like they are just sitting on the surface and stinging, so for the past few days, I have been practicing vanity minimalism to give my skin a rest. I used to pack in 5 to 6 steps, including a wipe-off toner, essence, serum, eye cream, and nourishing cream. But now, I wash with a mild, pH-balanced cleanser, apply a runny, gel-like toner twice, and finish with just a single barrier cream. I have also stopped exfoliating entirely for the time being. Since I have definitely reduced the excessive nourishment I used to give my skin and focused strictly on hydration and soothing, I can feel the redness subsiding significantly and my skin feeling much more comfortable. If your skin has become sensitive during the change of seasons, stop applying a bunch of products and definitely try a skincare diet!
