My dehydrated oily skin breaks out every change of season... Finally, a routine that has found the light.
Hasn't the daily temperature fluctuation been absolutely insane since March started? ㅠㅠ It's chilly in the mornings and evenings, but hot during the day, and the wind is dry... I've always been a sad creature with combination skin that gets oily on the surface and gets severely dehydrated from the inside, so whenever the seasons changed, my makeup would cake and it was a total mess. But this year, after completely changing my skincare routine, my skin feels quite stable, so I thought I'd share a little bit with you. ㅎㅎ
1. Change from cleansing foam to cleansing milk This was truly a stroke of genius! I immediately put away the foam cleanser that leaves your skin squeaky clean and switched to a mild, pH-balanced cleansing milk, and the tight, tearing sensation on my face after washing it was drastically reduced. I think preventing moisture loss during the cleansing step is the top priority.
2. 'Layering 3 layers of hydration ampoules' rather than a thick cream I found that if I slathered on a heavy cream because my skin was dry, it just sat on the surface and only caused breakouts. Instead, I apply a watery soothing/hydrating ampoule (I alternate between panthenol and hyaluronic acid) in thin layers about three times. It’s a bit of a hassle, but layering it like this completely eliminates inner dryness, and I can feel my skin becoming firm and supple with my fingertips lol.
There really isn't anything super special about it, but by focusing solely on 'minimizing irritation' and 'stacking layers of moisture,' I'm safely getting through this change of season without any redness or breakouts lol. If anyone is feeling like they're going crazy because their skin is so dry right now, give it a try and make sure to switch to a moisturizing cleanser first!!
Everyone, let's take good care of our skin during this change of season. Fighting!
