My own gentle skincare method for washing off sawdust and dust on days when I'm covered in it
As I spend all day carving wood and doing woodworking in a dusty workshop, by late evening my face is covered in sawdust and sweat.
In the past, I used to scrub my face vigorously with foam cleanser until it was squeaky clean, but since that only made my breakouts worse, I thought I’d share my own skincare routine that I’ve mastered on my own. The first step of my personal skincare routine is to wash my hands thoroughly as soon as I get home and then generously apply a gentle cleansing milk all over my face instead of foam cleanser. By rinsing dozens of times with only lukewarm water and never wiping it off with a cotton pad, the fine dust clinging to the surface of my skin is completely washed away without any friction or irritation. The most important core of my routine is finishing with a light second cleanse using a mild, slightly acidic gel that produces a rich lather.
Since I changed my routine like this, the tiny bumps caused by dust have completely disappeared. Just letting go of the obsession with washing until your skin is squeaky clean makes your skin feel much more comfortable.
