피부 장벽 이 진짜 중요한 거 같애요
Is anyone else having skin breakouts during this changing season? ㅠㅠ I'm sharing my best tips for overcoming it.
Is everyone having a wonderful day? The weather has suddenly gotten much warmer and the cherry blossoms are blooming, which is nice, but it is still chilly in the mornings and evenings, and the temperature difference between day and night is huge ㅠㅠ. Whenever the seasons change like this, my skin seems to sense it first and react. My skin, which is usually calm and problem-free, gets insanely dry right when the seasons change. It highlights dead skin cells and causes bumpy, tiny pimples to pop up all over me, so I just sighed deeply every time I looked in the mirror. I’m sure there are tons of members out there who are going through a similar ordeal with the changing seasons and having their skin barriers crumble.
Back in my early 20s, whenever my skin became rough and broke out, I used to immediately squeeze out a generous amount of peeling gel to aggressively remove dead skin cells, apply a highly alcohol-scented toner specifically for acne, and slather on ointment. But looking back, that was actually poison that ruined my skin. My skin barrier had already been completely compromised by the external environment, making it extremely sensitive; forcing irritation only made it redder and sting, as if the skin were peeling. So, starting a few years ago, I completely changed my approach to seasonal skincare to focus on "non-irritating soothing" and "strengthening the skin barrier."
First of all, I replaced all the cleansing products in the bathroom. I immediately threw away the alkaline foam cleanser that felt so good because it left my face squeaky clean, haha. Now, even if it leaves a slippery feeling, I gently wash my face with a mildly acidic cleansing gel or milk foam. On weekend mornings, I wash my face with only water to try and avoid stripping away my skin's protective barrier as much as possible. Also, I absolutely never scrub because white flakes of dead skin appear around my nose or between my eyebrows; instead, I apply a thick layer of a heavy barrier-regenerating cream, rich in ceramides and cholesterol, all over my face like a sleeping mask before going to bed.
And what I never skip applying during this time is a soothing ampoule containing madecassoside or a high concentration of panthenol! After washing my face, while it is still slightly damp, I apply a generous amount of the soothing ampoule all over my face in two layers and let it absorb. I found that the redness subsided significantly, and my skin felt so comfortable, as if it could finally breathe. After dedicating about a week to barrier care like this, the tiny bumps that had popped up disappeared as if they were never there, and my skin regained its strength and firmness. During the changing seasons, rather than applying a lot of products or trying to remove dead skin cells, I think soothing and moisturizing is definitely the answer. Let's all keep our skin safe and sound!
