I forgot to put on sunscreen for my weekend outing, so my cheekbones turned bright red.
The weather was so mild and nice this weekend that I went on an outing to the suburbs, but unfortunately, I didn't apply sunscreen thoroughly, so my skin ended up getting damaged. I let my guard down thinking the spring sunlight wasn't that hot, so I walked around all day without even wearing a hat, and by evening, both my cheeks were burning and flushed red.
When I looked in the mirror to wash my face this morning, I saw that the bridge of my nose and my cheekbones looked dull and dark, as if they had been slightly sunburned, and I was overwhelmed with a tremendous sense of shame and regret.
I bitterly resented myself for usually finding it bothersome to reapply sunscreen, so I spent the entire day at the office spraying mist to soothe my skin. Even the slightest dryness makes my skin feel tight as if it is tearing apart, and I feel like all the moisture has completely evaporated, to the point where I emptied nearly half of the large-sized mist I kept on my desk.
As soon as I got home, I applied a very thick layer of chilled aloe soothing gel from the refrigerator to my face like a mask, and I am desperately trying to get rid of the redness and heat.
Skin that has been directly irritated by UV rays like this can immediately lead to freckles or dark spots, so I need to apply plenty of whitening ampoule and focus on home care for a few days. Seeing how severely my skin has been damaged so immediately after just a single day outing, the saying that UV rays are the scariest culprit behind skin aging is absolutely true.
Maypure members, please do not let your guard down like I did. Whether it is a cloudy or sunny day, I hope you make sure to apply an amount of sunscreen the size of a 500-won coin before going out. Tonight, I plan to put on a cooling hydration mask and go to sleep with my hands clasped together, earnestly praying that the redness and stinging on my face will have subsided significantly by tomorrow morning.
