Sharing my personal routine for the never-ending war against flaky skin haha

As the weather gets quite chilly and dry, it seems like our skin is the first to sense the change of seasons. My foundation, which applied perfectly just last week, suddenly started flaking white around my nose, chin, and between my eyebrows. You know how you feel when you've finished your makeup in the morning only to see dead skin cells flaking off, making you want to wipe it all off and redo it? I once tried to force-exfoliate using a scrub with large granules, but it completely destroyed my skin barrier and caused a breakout. Since of that, I try to avoid physical exfoliation as much as possible, and during the change of seasons, I always stick to the strategy of 'calming dead skin cells with moisture.' Haha. That's my secret tip for managing skin during the transition period.
First of all, it is extremely important to replenish moisture immediately after washing your face and before leaving the bathroom, before it evaporates. I keep a runny-textured first essence on the bathroom shelf, and after lightly patting my skin dry with a towel, I pat it on within three seconds. Also, after applying a hydrating ampoule during the skincare routine, rather than layering a heavy, thick cream directly on top, I layer a light hydrating lotion over it.
I found that building up thin layers of moisture on the skin is essential for effectively tackling inner dryness. Finally, for the driest areas prone to flaking, such as the butterfly zone and around the mouth, I slightly melt a thick ceramide cream or moisturizing balm using the warmth of my palms and apply it by gently pressing it onto the skin to create a coating. Once you lay a solid foundation like this, the texture of your skin feels completely different to the touch the next morning when you wash your face.
And the indoor environment is just as important as the products you apply. I always keep a humidifier on, and since I feel like dust touching my skin makes it itchier and causes breakouts, I pay a lot of attention to ventilation and cleaning. Especially when using modular metal furniture, dust tends to accumulate in the corners and on the shelves in a thick layer ㅠㅠ. If you wipe those areas frequently and manage the indoor air quality at the same time, your skin will feel much less dry. Everyone, make sure to stay well-hydrated so we can safely get through this changing season without any dry skin or breakouts!
