Has anyone seen results after about 5 beard removal sessions?

I'm considering laser hair removal because shaving every day is a hassle. I'm thinking of buying a 5-session package to start with; usually, does it take about 5 sessions to get smooth enough that I don't need to shave in the morning? I'm a bit worried because I've heard the pain is severe, but I'm also wondering if it's bearable if I apply numbing cream. Could the men please share some reviews?
