My facial melasma has gotten darker after giving birth. Is it possible to treat it?

I didn't have this much pigmentation on my face before giving birth, but after delivery, brown spots started becoming noticeable on my cheekbones and forehead. I thought they would naturally fade over time, but they have lasted longer than I expected. It takes a long time to cover them up every time I apply makeup, so now I would like to try managing them properly.

I am wondering if melasma that appeared after childbirth can be managed using standard melasma treatments. If it is related to hormonal changes, I would also like to know if it would be better to wait a little longer for treatment.

Is there a possibility that my skin will become sensitive or that the pigmentation will actually darken when receiving melasma treatment? I am also curious whether the type of treatment is determined after checking my current skin condition first, and what criteria are used to select the method among the various options. Please let me know if there are any preparations or checks I need to make before starting treatment.
