The smell of bungeoppang in winter is heavier than the sadness of not having cash.
The commute home is already wafting past my nose, and the weather is so bitter. Just as I was leaving work, I smelled a bungeoppang (fish-shaped bread) on the street corner. My brain was telling me I absolutely had to buy it, but all I had in my pockets were my phone and car keys. The line was too long to ask about a bank transfer, so I analyzed the situation and just turned around. The cold reality hit me hard, and my heart and cheeks felt like they were about to burst. Shivering in the cold, I came home and looked in the mirror. My skin, which should be as plump as bungeoppang dough, had sagged from the cold wind, and it was quite noticeable. Since I hadn't had a full stomach, I decided to at least nourish my face, so I diligently followed my home care routine. Usually, I just wash my face, apply some quick makeup, and lie down, but today, I applied a generous amount of thicker makeup and massaged my face to lift some of the sagging skin. While hydration is important, I'm becoming more and more aware of the gravity-defying lifestyle habits that are essential as I age. Just as a fish-shaped bread tastes best when it's filled with cream puffs, shouldn't our skin be firm on the inside to achieve a subtle glow? Instead of missing out on today's fish-shaped bread, I'm hoping for a more resilient face tomorrow morning. Be sure to carry cash with you and remember to take care of your skin.
