요즘 피부가 뒤집어져서 오늘도 팩 했는데 갑자기 글 보니까 1일1팩 조심히 해야겠다. 생각이 듭니다. 좋은 글 감사합니다.
A Letter of Apology from a Blind Believer Whose Skin Broke Out After Following the Trend
Hi everyone! Haha. I'm sure you've all tried the "one mask a day" challenge at least once to improve your skin, right? Recently, my skin felt so dry and my complexion looked dull, so I finally decided to bite the bullet and stock up on every type of mask during the Olive Young sale. I bought a good mix of hydration, soothing, brightening, and firming masks, and I've been finishing my day by applying a mask every evening after washing my face. For the first few days, I was really satisfied because my skin felt so hydrated and firm after I took it off. My makeup went on better in the morning, and people around me even commented that my complexion looked brighter, so I realized, "Ah, this is why everyone does a mask a day!" Haha.
But then, to my surprise, about a week later, tiny pimples started popping up one by one on my face. I started feeling bumpy on my forehead and chin, and eventually, red, pus-filled breakouts even appeared on my cheeks, so I was in a total panic. Haha. It turned out my skin type can't absorb an excessive amount of nutrients every day. Because I was applying a functional face mask packed with highly nourishing ampoules every day, my pores got clogged and I experienced an overabundance of nutrients; as a result, my skin couldn't breathe and ended up producing breakouts. I ended up ruining my skin while trying to strengthen my skin barrier.
So now, I’ve boldly given up on doing a mask every day and am only doing one twice a week, haha. Instead, I’ve dieted my skincare routine on a daily basis, focusing on light hydrating ampoules and soothing creams. On mask days, I’ve switched to a method where I lightly exfoliate first before applying a hydrating mask or a modeling mask, haha. Doing it this way definitely puts less strain on my skin, and the tiny bumps that had appeared are gradually clearing up. Doing a mask every day isn't necessarily bad, but I think it’s really important to adjust the frequency and type of mask to suit your skin type. If you have oily or dehydrated oily skin like me, using a highly nourishing mask every day can actually be harmful, so please be careful, haha. If anyone has their own mask routine, please share it with me, haha!
