Do you apply toner pads or your skincare routine along the grain?

You know how when you watch beauty YouTubers' videos, they apply and wipe along the skin texture...

I try to be conscious of it, but sometimes when I'm feeling lazy, I just rub it on haphazardly... Is that a shortcut to ruining my skin? lol
