Inquiry regarding emergency treatment for sensitive skin after exfoliation
Recently, my skin has become extremely sensitive, whether due to excessive exfoliation or because the products didn't agree with me. Even applying my usual mild moisturizer causes a burning sensation, and the redness all over my face just won't go away. It is so irritating that I feel irritation just from the slightest touch while washing my face, so I plan to stop all my basic skincare steps for the time being and focus solely on soothing my skin.
Currently, to minimize irritation, I am not using a towel after washing my face; instead, I am letting it air dry or gently patting it to aid absorption. I am cautious even about applying a face mask for fear of irritation, but I have heard that cold saline packs are good for soothing, so I am considering giving them a try. I am washing my face only with lukewarm water, but I am very anxious because the recovery seems to be progressing too slowly.
If anyone has had a similar experience, I am curious how long this sensitivity usually lasts. Also, would applying a generous amount of aloe vera gel be helpful? Or would it be better to just leave it alone and wait for the skin to recover on its own? Any advice on what ingredients I absolutely must apply during the recovery period would be a huge help.
