Does using a face mask a day help the skin?

Does using a face mask every day help my skin? I've bought masks but haven't used them because it was a hassle, but I've seen that doing it daily improves the skin, so I want to give it a try. Can I just buy any decent one? I'm curious to know what masks you would recommend. Since I plan to use it every day, I should probably stick to something affordable, so I'd like to know what price range would be appropriate.
