Concern about accentuating lip wrinkles

I put on a pretty lipstick this morning and was seriously shocked when all the dead skin started flaking off. I definitely slathered on lip balm before bed, so why is it this dry? *sobs*... lol. It’s so upsetting because the lipstick gets stuck in the flakes, making it look messier than if I hadn't worn anything at all!! lol. Now that I'm in my 30s, it feels like lip wrinkles and dryness are getting worse, so I think lip care is really essential. Does anyone know of a lip mask or a gentle scrub that really soothes dead skin? Hehe. Or would applying honey and wrapping it in plastic wrap be the surefire way to fix it? Lol. Let's all get smooth lips so we can pull off lip makeup perfectly!! Let's do this!! :)
