I’m going to introduce my personal skincare routine that helps retain moisture.
Since skin moisture evaporates easily when the weather is dry or when air conditioning is used for extended periods, I’ve created my own moisture retention routine to manage my skin! The first step I pay attention to is cleansing. Rather than washing until my skin feels squeaky clean, I prefer to cleanse gently with lukewarm water to prevent my skin's basic oil-water balance from being disrupted. After cleansing, the key is to quickly lock in initial hydration with a toner or hydrating ampoule before the water dries.
Next, I layer a lightweight hydrating ampoule several times to replenish inner dryness, and finally, I create a barrier with a moisturizing cream to prevent moisture from evaporating. Especially on days when inner dryness is severe, I tend to apply a very thin layer of cream one more time.
And lifestyle habits are more important than I thought; drinking water frequently and maintaining indoor humidity seemed to have a significant impact on skin hydration. Applying sunscreen thoroughly every day also helps reduce both moisture loss and skin damage. Ultimately, I am realizing especially these days that protecting your skin from moisture loss is more important than simply applying a lot of it.
