Will keratosis pilaris improve if treated at a dermatology clinic?

I have had small, bumpy rashes on the outer sides of my arms and thighs for a long time. After looking it up, I suspect it is keratosis pilaris, so I am writing to inquire. I didn't usually pay much attention to it, but now that the weather has gotten warmer and I am wearing short sleeves frequently, I am concerned about my skin looking rough. I have tried applying body lotion consistently and using scrub products at home, but I haven't noticed any significant changes. I am curious how dermatologists treat keratosis pilaris. Is there a significant difference between simply moisturizing and receiving treatment at a clinic?
