Is it possible for acne to worsen after a treatment?

I was surprised because it felt like my breakouts actually worsened after getting an acne treatment.
I looked it up and heard that acne can sometimes appear temporarily after a procedure, so I'm wondering if that is normal.
They say it's part of the skin's healing process, but if breakouts keep coming up, I get anxious for no reason.
