Is there actually a connection between taking probiotics and skin problems?
People around me have been highly recommending that I make sure to take probiotics, saying that a healthy gut leads to clear skin. I'm curious if there is actually a scientific link to alleviating skin troubles. I did a quick search online, and it says that increasing beneficial gut bacteria reduces toxins and inflammatory responses in the body, strengthening the skin barrier and helping to soothe acne. It really piques my interest, haha. However, on the other hand, there are so many types of probiotics, and I've heard of people who experienced side effects—such as red pimples or whiteheads—because taking the wrong ones didn't suit their constitution and caused the bacteria to overgrow. So, I can't easily bring myself to buy them. Please share your experiences or advice.
