My own skincare method to beat the sweltering heat!
With the sweltering heat continuing for the past few days, taking care of my skin feels really difficult. Even going out for just a short while makes me sweat a lot and my skin heat up quickly, so I used to get stressed out every summer because of breakouts (plus working overtime... lol). However, I’ve developed my own summer skincare routine to get through the heat over the past few years, so I’m writing it down here.
My top priority is quickly soothing skin heat. After going out on hot days, instead of using a harsh cleanser, I gently wash my face with lukewarm water and first lower my skin temperature using refrigerated soothing pads or a moisturizing mask. I tend to avoid ice packs that are too cold, as they can actually irritate the skin.
Also, during the summer, I found that a light, hydrating routine suited me better than applying heavy layers of products. I found that applying too much made my makeup break down easily and caused breakouts due to the stuffiness. Instead, I make sure to reapply sunscreen thoroughly, even when I am out.
Lately, I’ve been particularly realizing that, above all else, sufficient hydration and sleep have the biggest impact on my skin condition. It seems that skin is indeed the most honest indicator of one's lifestyle habits, even though I don't always manage to stick to them...
