Is melasma treatment effective for cheek pigmentation that develops after pregnancy or childbirth?

I am wondering how best to manage brown pigmentation that has started to appear around my cheeks and cheekbones around the time of pregnancy or childbirth. I have heard that hormonal changes can be related to skin pigmentation, but I am not sure if it is safe to assume it is melasma without actually checking what type of pigmentation it is.

I would like to know if it naturally fades over time, or if professional care is necessary if it remains.

Can I expect melasma treatment to be effective even on this type of pigmentation?

I am wondering if the treatment method for melasma varies depending on the cause or timing of the pigmentation. If my skin has become dry and sensitive after childbirth, are there cases where it is better to monitor my skin condition for a certain period rather than receiving laser treatment immediately?

I am also curious if, during a consultation for melasma treatment, you check for factors that could influence the decision to proceed, such as the timing of pregnancy or childbirth, or whether I am currently breastfeeding. Rather than rushing into treatment, I would like to choose a method suitable for my current body and skin condition. I would also appreciate it if you could let me know if there are any other treatments I can consider before laser therapy.
