What are the benefits of receiving consistent treatment for melasma?
Lately, my skin looks dull overall, and the melasma on my cheekbones seems to be getting darker, so I am looking into dermatological treatment. I didn't really mind it before, but it has become stressful because that area looks particularly dark in photos.
I heard that treating melasma requires consistent management rather than just a couple of laser treatments, so I became curious about the actual benefits of this treatment before I start. Besides simply lightening the pigmentation, does it also have the effect of making the skin tone look clearer or improving the overall complexion?
I especially want the patchy look to be reduced when I'm barefaced, and I would be satisfied if it just meant I didn't have to use a thick layer of concealer when applying makeup.
If anyone has consistently received melasma treatment, I am curious to know what the most satisfying benefit was. I would also appreciate it if you could let me know if there are cases where the treatment causes severe irritation or actually makes the color darker.

If you are worried about getting treatments too frequently, ask them to set the interval based on your skin type during the consultation, and also inquire at which session you want to check your progress. They say it is really important to be meticulous about sun protection after the procedure!410026.10.22

- 03CommentsI see that you are looking into my mother's skin concerns on her behalf. Since even blemishes that look similar on the surface need to be identified as specific types first, I am curious about your consultation criteria. Although I have no experience with procedures, would it be helpful to discuss my usual sun protection habits and available schedule during the consultation?410026.10.08
