Will there be a synergistic effect in treating melasma?

There is a limit to how much I can cover it up with makeup, and it keeps bothering me, so I’m planning to visit a dermatologist to start proper treatment for my melasma.

I looked into it and heard that melasma treatment isn't a one-time thing, but requires a long-term schedule of at least 10 sessions to combine laser toning and whitening care. I am worried that receiving laser treatments might make my skin thinner or more sensitive, potentially leading to an increase in fine wrinkles or worsening redness.

Are there any members who have received long-term treatment for melasma due to deep pigmentation around the eyes or cheekbones? I would appreciate your honest experiences regarding whether the marks actually fade visibly with each session, and whether using vitamin care or whitening cosmetics during the treatment period creates a synergistic effect!
