Is it effective for treating acne and is it also suitable for cheek breakouts that occur after exfoliation?

I used an exfoliating product because the texture of my cheeks looked rough, but I've noticed that small blemishes sometimes pop up the next day, so I am looking into acne treatments. I've heard that accumulated dead skin cells can clog pores and cause small bumps, but I'm worried that if I keep removing them, my skin seems to become red and dry. I'm not sure if the product simply isn't right for me, or if my skin barrier is weakened.

Can I still expect effective acne treatment in this case? I am also wondering if, when receiving treatment, if the skin is irritated, a process to stabilize the skin is necessary before immediately managing sebum or dead skin cells. I would like to know if alternative treatments are available for people for whom exfoliation is not suitable.

Before starting acne treatment, is it possible to distinguish whether the small bumps currently on my skin are actual whiteheads or other skin issues caused by irritation? I am concerned that the care I am trying to use to make my skin smooth might actually be causing recurring breakouts. I would like to know how to reduce unnecessary exfoliation and what care schedule is suitable for my skin.
