To what extent are menstrual cycles and lifestyle records checked during an acne consultation?
I am a woman in my 30s concerned about acne and enlarged pores. I am wondering if acne consultations check for changes related to lifestyle habits or the menstrual cycle, in addition to the condition of the skin surface. I would like to know what records are necessary before assuming a specific cause on my own.
For example, would it be helpful for the consultation if I wrote down the location and date of breakouts, the start date of my period, and my sleep duration? I am also curious if there is a difference in the direction of the consultation between observing changes over just a few days and comparing changes over several weeks. Please let me know how long the record-keeping period should be, and whether I should maintain consistent lighting or distance when taking photos.
I would like to know if there is a range of things that can be confirmed through a dermatological examination alone, even when I suspect changes before and after my period. By what criteria do you determine when other treatments or tests need to be considered? Since I don't think all acne requires testing, I would like to organize the items to be checked during the consultation rather than worrying unnecessarily.
Should pore concerns be recorded separately from inflammatory changes? The attached image is for reference only for the question; after the consultation, you will be guided to divide changes to monitor and symptoms to report immediately.

- 01CommentsIt is important to have the issue checked first, rather than assuming that all small bumps are sebum. It would be helpful to include details such as when they appeared, their location, and any hair products you have recently changed to make the explanation easier. If extraction is not necessary, I would also like to hear during the consultation what actions I should avoid at home.220026.10.29
- 02CommentsIt is good that you separated your questions regarding new breakouts and remaining red marks. Rather than determining the number of visits right away, it would be better to first have the current inflammation status and the type of marks assessed, and then ask when you would like to compare the progress for each. If you also provide details about mask wearing time, habits of touching your chin, and the skincare products you use, it will be easier to consult on a care plan that takes dryness into account.250026.10.29

What do you check first during a consultation regarding red marks remaining after acne has subsided?[3]
CommentsIt is good that you are trying to differentiate between red marks and blemishes that are still emerging during the consultation. It would be easier to explain if you noted when the redness subsided and when the color changed. Try asking whether managing inflammation is the priority right now or when it is the appropriate time to examine the marks, and receive guidance on cleansing and sun protection methods tailored to your skin condition.230026.10.30
- 01CommentsI'm also stressed because I keep getting acne, but it seems like getting laser treatments consistently is important. I think it will get better after receiving more than 10 sessions.2090026.10.26
- 02CommentsI imagine you are really curious if you can manage both blackheads and acne at the same time. It would be a good idea to consult with them to see if they can be treated together after assessing your skin condition.580026.10.25
- 03CommentsI get breakouts on my chin before and after my period exactly the same way, so it really feels like I'm on the same page. During your consultation, please ask about the best order to manage the current inflammation and remaining marks, as well as available time slots after work!1170026.10.25
