Is it okay to start melasma treatment now?

I started getting small dark spots on my face a few years ago, but recently they seem to have gotten much darker, so I'm worried.

At first, I just brushed it off, thinking I had a few blemishes, but at some point, my cheekbones started to stand out.

It feels like it looks even darker, especially on days with a lot of sunlight, so these days I make sure to apply sunscreen thoroughly when I go out.

However, it seems difficult to manage existing freckles with cosmetics alone.

I've tried various whitening products, but while my skin tone became slightly more even, I didn't feel like the freckles themselves disappeared completely.

So now I'm thinking of looking into melasma treatment, but now that I've actually looked into it, it's difficult because there are so many types.

When I searched online, some places said lasers were good, while others said that irritation should be minimized for melasma.

I've also seen that melasma treatment needs to be approached differently depending on each person's skin condition and degree of pigmentation.

My skin is thin and sensitive, so I'm worried that starting melasma treatment might actually cause the pigmentation to worsen.

I get especially scared when I see stories on the internet about hyperpigmentation developing after melasma treatment.

Still, I don't think continuing to neglect it is the answer, so I'm thinking of getting some counseling first.

For those of you who started melasma treatment for the first time, what criteria did you use to choose your method?

I'm also wondering if it would be a good idea to consult with several hospitals before making a decision.

I would also like to know how many sessions of melasma treatment are usually needed to see results.

I'm not expecting immediate, noticeable results after just one session, but I'm still wondering how long I should expect it to take.

I want to avoid procedures that have a long recovery period or are very noticeable on my face because of my job.

If there is a melasma treatment method that does not significantly interfere with daily life, I would like to look into that.
