For those of you who have been receiving melasma treatment for a long time, how did you manage your skin?

When I look closely at my face after removing my makeup, I can see a different color on my cheekbones. At first, I thought it was just a simple blemish, but it seems to have gotten a little wider over time, so I'm wondering if I should get it checked properly now. It seems to look darker, especially on days when I've been exposed to a lot of sunlight, so it bothers me every time I look in the mirror.

After searching for melasma treatments, I found that there are more diverse approaches than I had expected. I heard that there are methods using lasers, consistent toning treatments, and clinics that combine different techniques based on the skin condition, so I am not sure which option to choose from the start.

Above all, I am worried because I have read many times that aggressively treating melasma can actually lead to hyperpigmentation. My skin isn't particularly resilient, so I'm also unsure if receiving a strong laser is the right approach. For those starting melasma treatment for the first time, I am curious to know what kind of diagnosis you received at the clinic and how you decided on your treatment plan.

I have many questions for those who have actually undergone melasma treatment. I am curious about how many sessions it took to first notice a change, and whether there were any periods in between when the color appeared darker. I also want to know if I need to continue using sunscreen or whitening treatments in conjunction with the procedure, rather than just stopping there.

I am also curious if it is common for melasma to improve only to reappear after treatment. If you have been consistently managing your condition for several years, I would like to hear about the difference between when you first started and now. While cost is certainly important, I prefer to manage my skin slowly and carefully, monitoring its condition, rather than undergoing multiple procedures excessively.

If anyone has visited a hospital with similar concerns, please share how you started your treatment. In particular, I would like to know if there are any crucial points not to be missed during the initial consultation, or if there were any specific questions you made sure to ask the doctor.
