- [닥터칼럼] 탈모의 분류와 치료법, 그리고 판토딜이란? According to the National Health Insurance Service, 1,115,882 patients visited hospitals for hair loss treatment between 2020 and 2024. Of these, 627,192 (56.2%) were men, and 488,690 (43.8%) were women. Hair loss is a disease that has recently been a concern for many people regardless of gender or age. Hair loss varies depending on the cause and pattern, and choosing the right treatment is paramount. We will provide information on the classification and treatment of hair loss, as well as Pantodil. 1. Classification of Hair Loss ① Androgenetic Alopecia: This is the most common type. It occurs when the male hormone testosterone is converted to DHT (dihydrotestosterone), shortening the hair growth phase and miniaturizing hair follicles. Male Pattern: The forehead line recedes into an "M" shape, or the crown area becomes thinner. Female type: The forehead line is maintained, but the hair thins out overall, especially around the parting. ② Alopecia Areata (Alopecia Areata) This is an autoimmune disease that occurs when immune cells attack the hair follicles. It is characterized by hair loss in a coin-shaped circle. ③ Telogen Effluvium (Telogen Effluvium) This is a phenomenon in which hair in the growth phase suddenly transitions to the resting phase and falls out due to severe stress, dieting, childbirth, surgery, etc. 2. Hair Loss Treatment ① Drug Treatment Finasteride/Dutasteride (Oral): Inhibits the production of DHT and prevents the progression of androgenetic alopecia. (For men only) Minoxidil (Topic): Increases blood flow to the scalp to promote hair growth. (For both men and women) ② Injection and Laser Treatment MTS (Microneedle Therapy System): Injects ingredients necessary for hair growth directly into the scalp using microneedles. Steroid Intradermal Injection: Effective for alopecia areata. Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT): Activates hair follicle cells through laser energy. ③ Hair transplant: This method involves transplanting hair follicles from the back of the head, unaffected by hair loss, to the balding area. While effective for hair loss that is difficult to recover from with non-surgical treatments, surgical scars and a long recovery period are disadvantages.
