Does facial exfoliation happen automatically after receiving laser or peeling treatments at a dermatology clinic?
Hello. Lately, my skin has felt very dry and dull, and it seems like my skin turnover cycle is off, so I am considering getting a dermatological procedure. I have tried exfoliating at home using scrubs or gommage products, but they only made my skin red, and the dead skin cells that were just sitting on the surface weren't properly removed. My makeup looks cakey and messy, so I am thinking of seeking professional help.
I looked into it and found that there are treatments like Aqua Peel and Aladdin Peeling, as well as many types of lasers like toning and Fraxel. After receiving these treatments, do the old dead skin cells accumulated on the surface naturally slough off, leaving the skin smooth?
I’ve heard that dead skin cells actually flak more after the procedure, so I’m confused whether that is a temporary phenomenon or if the procedure itself provides an exfoliating effect. I would like to know how long it takes for the skin to become smooth after the treatment, and whether I need to do any additional exfoliation at home.
