Is that a big mole on my arm?

I have a mole-like spot on my arm.

Actually, I’m not exactly sure if this is a mole or some other skin condition. It seems like it’s been there for a while, but it hasn’t suddenly gotten bigger or changed shape much, and since I haven’t had any symptoms like itching, pain, or discomfort, I haven’t really paid much attention to it until now.

However, as summer arrived and I started wearing short sleeves more often, it became more noticeable. Perhaps that is why everyone I see around me keeps saying, "Wouldn't it be a good idea to visit a dermatologist?" At first, I didn't think much of it, but hearing that repeatedly has started to bother me a little.

Actually, it doesn't cause any discomfort, so I'm wondering if I really need to have it removed. However, I think I'll be able to find out exactly what it is if I go to a dermatologist, so I'm considering getting a consultation.

Has anyone else visited a dermatologist because they developed a mole or something similar on their arm like I have? I'm curious about the usual procedure used to remove it and how long it takes. I'm also wondering if anesthesia is used and if the procedure is very painful.

Even if the size hasn't changed and there are no particular symptoms, would it be a good idea to get it checked out at a dermatologist? Please share your experiences if you have any. ^^
