Can I use my usual cosmetics after getting a dermatological procedure?

I've heard that I should skip products containing retinol, Vitamin C, or exfoliating ingredients; does the duration vary depending on the type of procedure? Also, I've heard that applying sunscreen is essential, but I'm confused whether it's right to apply it unconditionally even if my skin stings. I've also been told to avoid exercise, saunas, and alcohol after the procedure; I'm curious if I need to be careful for just a day or for several days. Since my skin is quite sensitive, my biggest worry is getting breakouts from improper post-procedure care. For those of you who have had dermatological procedures multiple times, I'd like to know the order in which you followed your skincare routine once you got home on the day of the treatment.
