I'm in my mid-30s and debating between Ulthera and Thermage for anti-aging treatments.
Hello everyone~ Now that I’ve turned 10 and am heading towards my mid-20s, I can’t help but sigh deeply every time I look in the mirror. ㅠㅠ I feel like my skin used to glow just by applying a good moisturizer, but these days, pillow marks don't go away until late in the morning, and I’m especially stressed because my jawline is noticeably sagging. My nasolabial folds seem to be getting deeper, and overall, my face feels like it’s losing elasticity and becoming all sagging.
So, I finally decided to bite the bullet and emptied my emergency savings to get an anti-aging lifting procedure, haha. But now that I've actually looked into it, there are so many types that it's hard to choose. I spent days thoroughly reading reviews on YouTube and online forums, and I eventually narrowed it down to the two giants: Ulthera and Thermage. However, since I heard their mechanisms are completely different, I'm not sure which one is right for me.
From what I've researched, Ultherapy uses ultrasound to target the deep fascial layer of the skin, so it is said to be very effective in lifting sagging skin. I heard it is a surefire cure for people like me who are worried about jawline fat or a double chin, but I'm really scared because I saw reviews mentioning a downside called the "skeletal field," which can cause hollowing in the cheeks. Since I don't have a lot of fat on my face, I'm worried that the area under my cheekbones might sink in.
On the other hand, I heard that Thermage uses radio frequency to help generate collagen in the dermis, so it doesn't make your face slimmer but rather makes the skin itself firm and tight. I was intrigued because I heard it is much better for improving pores, fine lines, and skin texture. However, I am hesitant because I heard that it provides relatively less of the dynamic lifting effect that really pulls the skin up. Ideally, I’d love to get Ulthermage, which combines both treatments, but my bank balance just won’t allow it, haha.
And the pain! Both are notoriously painful... I'm wondering if I need general anesthesia or if I can endure it with just topical anesthesia. Are there any Maypure members who have tried Ulthera or Thermage? Please give me some advice on which one would be more satisfying for my skin type (average cheek volume, thin skin, and my biggest concerns are fine lines and a sagging jawline). I'm already getting nervous reading the reviews about how painful it is, but I guess I have to endure it to become beautiful, right? I'll be waiting for your detailed review!!
