I am looking into melasma treatment because of the darkened pigmentation on my cheekbones.
Hello~ I'm an office worker in my mid-30s who just sighs deeply every time I look in the mirror these days. I've always tended to have some freckles and blemishes, but perhaps because I've been working late frequently lately and feeling stressed and tired, the pigmentation around both my cheekbones feels like it's spreading out much more darkly and widely. In the past, just applying powder was enough to cover them, but now even slathering on concealer doesn't hide them; instead, it just makes my skin look dull, and it makes me feel so depressed.
I tried everything to treat my melasma with home care using cosmetics, even buying and applying expensive Vitamin C whitening ampoules and creams, but the effect was really minimal. It seems the only solution is to go to a dermatologist and get proper laser treatment, so I am asking for advice from the experts here.
After diligently searching through community reviews, I noticed many people recommend lasers like Excel V, Pico Toning, and Revlite. However, it seems that the specific treatment methods and characteristics for melasma differ slightly for each laser. Some are said to be effective for shallow pigmentation in the epidermis, while others are better for deep pigmentation embedded in the dermis. Since I am not an expert, I have no way of knowing whether my pigmentation is deep or shallow, which is just frustrating lol. I also saw some scary reviews saying that if you get the treatment wrong, your melasma can actually get darker, so I’m suddenly getting really scared ㅠㅠ
If anyone has successfully resolved the stubborn pigmentation that has spread widely along the mask line on my cheekbones like mine, could I please share what equipment you used for the melasma treatment? Also, is there a checklist I should use when choosing a clinic, such as the specific characteristics of the treatment equipment or the doctor's thoroughness? I want to go to a place that accurately diagnoses my skin condition and creates a comprehensive, customized treatment plan, rather than a factory-style clinic that just rushes through the process, but finding such a place is really difficult.
I am fully aware that this isn't a problem that can be solved instantly with just one or two treatments, but since I am investing my time and money anyway, I want to start properly from the beginning to ensure effective melasma treatment. I would be incredibly grateful if members who have successfully completed their melasma treatments could share lots of genuine reviews and helpful tips!
