How long does a laser hair removal procedure actually take?

I find shaving every summer a hassle and my skin tends to get irritated easily, so I am looking into laser hair removal. Since I don't have much time on weekdays, I am most curious about whether I can get the treatment after work. I would like to know how long it usually takes from the consultation to the procedure for a first-time treatment, and if there is a significant difference in time depending on the area being treated. I am also curious if I can wash my face or exercise immediately after the treatment, and if there are any precautions I should take on the same day. If anyone has had this done, please let me know the actual treatment time and how long you spent at the clinic so I can use it as a reference!

And how much does it hurt? I tend to be a bit of a drama queen... so I'm curious how much it actually hurts.
