Earthy brown spots have spread widely like fog. How should I manage these melasma spots?
Even though I make sure to apply sunscreen year-round, earthy brown spots have spread widely like a mist, centered around the upper part of my cheekbones. Even when looking in the mirror from a distance, the sides of my face look dull and shadowed. Even when I apply a thick layer of concealer, by the afternoon, it mixes with darkening and shows up unevenly, looking like I've been dirty. I've gone through several bottles of whitening ampoules and vitamin essences, but far from fading, it feels like it gets darker after just one outing on a sunny day. I've heard that Pico Toning is the trend for pigmentation treatment because it supposedly breaks down melanin into tiny particles, so I'm considering signing up for a package deal. However, I've heard that if toning lasers are used incorrectly, they can cause side effects like hyperpigmentation (where the pigmentation actually darkens) or vitiligo (where the skin turns white). I need advice from those with experience on whether consistent treatment around 10 sessions is usually enough to lighten the spots enough to go out without concealer, and what the appropriate interval between treatments is.
