Is simply applying more lip balm enough for dry, flaky lips in late autumn?

Planned branch to visit: Maypure Mia Branch

When lips become dry and flaky in late autumn, should I prioritize moisturizing or checking my skin condition? I imagine the term "dry lips" encompasses different sensations, such as thin flakes, cracking, and stinging. I am writing this post to ask if I can discuss these concerns during a skin consultation.

Would it be helpful if I could specify whether the discomfort is limited to the center of my lips, if the redness extends to the edges, and if there are any changes at the corners? Even if it looks like the same dryness, the specific details to check may vary depending on the location. I would also like to know if it would be helpful to mention when it started and which product I applied that changed the sensation.

When choosing lip balm or lip products, it is easy to select based solely on scent or texture, but I am wondering what information I should check during periods of discomfort. Would it be helpful for the consultation if I told you the names of the products I use and how often? Since it seems difficult to determine the difference when switching between different products, I would like to know how best to organize my products.

You might be tempted to pick at visible dead skin cells with your hands or use a scrub, but I would like to first verify if such care is appropriate. I am curious how to distinguish between cases where applying a thick layer of moisturizer is sufficient and those requiring separate medical treatment. Should I also mention my habit of frequently touching or licking my lips during the consultation?

I would like to ask if you also check products that come into contact with the area around my lips, such as toothpaste or facial cleanser. Rather than concluding that a specific product is the cause, I would like to identify the items that come into repeated contact with my lips in daily life. I am also wondering if it would be helpful to describe situations where I experience discomfort, such as when eating spicy or hot food. I would also like guidance on when to take a break from lip makeup, tailored to my condition.

I would like to first inquire if a consultation regarding lip dryness or peeling is available at the Mia branch. Please let me know if it is advisable to remove lip products before visiting, and if preparing photos of moments when I experienced discomfort would be helpful. I am interested in care that reduces recurring discomfort rather than simply methods to make my lips look smooth. It is a small area, but since it keeps moving when I speak or eat, it feels surprisingly difficult to manage, haha.
