Is it okay to use skin trouble ointment?

Whenever I have skin troubles, I usually apply a topical ointment from the pharmacy. It seems to help soothe the occasional skin problem, but I'm concerned about side effects like weakening my skin. It's a bit burdensome to go for anti-inflammatory injections every time I have a minor skin problem, so I'd like to hear your opinions on whether ointments like Fucidin Fair Acne might be a good idea!
