Is there an acne treatment that is effective in suppressing sebaceous gland activity?
I frequently get acne where sebum gets trapped and hardens into pus deep within the skin. Since the pus doesn't rise to the surface, I can't squeeze it. I've heard this happens when the sebaceous glands are overdeveloped; are there any acne treatments that can suppress sebaceous gland activity?
I used to take Roaccutane, and since it suppresses sebum production, I didn't get any acne or clog my pores while taking it; my skin was in top condition. However, getting a prescription every time was a hassle, and I was worried about the side effects. When I stopped taking the medication, my acne returned and my skin went back to its original state.
Taking medication only provides temporary relief, and I feel that the best way to solve the root problem is to completely dry up the sebaceous glands. I would like to know what acne treatments are available that can destroy the sebaceous glands. I am also curious whether I need to get repeated treatments periodically or if the effects are permanent.
