I get acne around my chin and mouth every time before my period. Should I get some treatment at a dermatology clinic?
I'm really stressed out about my skin these days. Usually, it doesn't break out badly, but about a week before my period starts, I always get one or two pimples popping up on my chin and around my mouth. At first, it was just one or two, so I didn't think much of it, but lately they keep appearing in the same spots. Once they pop up, they stay red for a long time and even leave marks. I try to resist the urge to squeeze them at home, but at some point, when I touch them, they feel hard and raised, which really bothers me. I've switched to milder skincare products and tried cleansing more thoroughly, but I don't think there has been as much change as I expected. So, I'm thinking about getting professional acne treatment at a dermatologist, but I'm not sure how to start. When I search online, I see a wide variety of treatments, from extractions and aqua peels to anti-inflammatory injections and various lasers. Since my acne isn't extremely severe, I feel hesitant about getting strong treatments right away; I'm just looking for periodic checkups to monitor my skin condition. For those of you who also experience recurring breakouts on your chin or around your mouth like me, what kind of consultation did you receive first at the dermatologist? I'm curious if it's better to just get extractions, or if it's better to discuss the underlying causes as well. If anyone has had an experience where their skin actually became more sensitive after treatment, please let me know!
